A BRIEF HISTORY OF KOHLER
Kohler Co. was founded by Austrian John Michael Kohler and his partner. The two began by producing iron and steel parts for household and farm items, and then progressed to plumbing, bath, and kitchen fixtures. Then, in 1920, Kohler became the first producer of modern, household generators, which of course were powered by Kohler engines.
Over time, Kohler expanded its reach globally, continually inventing, exploring, and testing products all over the world. In 1933, Kohler proved the power of its generators and engines when Admiral Richard Byrd traveled to the South Pole while utilizing several of Kohler’s products. The strength and reliability of the brand continues to this day.

Kohler Generator 20RESCL-200SELS
Product Review Rating: 5/5
We researched a few different home generators and decided to get the Kohler 20RESCL-200SELS. Balancing the price versus the 20000 watts of power it generates, this was the best generator for our house. We live in an area that gets a lot of storms that knock out our power for 3-4 days at a time, sometimes longer. We wanted a backup generator that would let us run everything without needing to do anything ourselves. We’ve had it for about six months now and it runs everything perfectly.

The Kohler brand is synonymous with quality so we purchased a Kohler 20RESCL-200ASELS. We get at least 2 power outages per year and they last 2 hours to 3 days so after 5 years we decided to fix the problem. When we are without power it causes major problems since we have 3 younger children. We got the unit installed 7 months ago and had our first outage in December which lasted for about a day and half. The generator did everything that was advertised. We could still use all our appliances, had light, and open our garage door which used to be a problem.

This unit was recommended to me by a friend. After reviewing a few different manufactures and pricing we did decide to go with the Kohler. We had our first chance to try it out the other night when we had a big storm that knocked out power for 5 hours. The unit came on within a few seconds and powered our house flawlessly.

I’ve used a portable generator for a long time as a home backup generator. I got tired of making trips to buy gas to keep it running so I started looking into natural gas powered generators. After talking to some installers, I settled on a kohler standby generator. They told me I needed at least 14 kW to run my appliances and hvac system. It turns on and off by itself, so I don’t have to watch it like the portable one. I’m glad I made the switch.

I am a DYI guy and we needed to fix our home backup power issue. We installed an efergy unit to monitor our consumption of energy. To meet our needs comfortably we needed a 14kW generator. We looked at Kohler and 2 other generator manufacturers. After I did my Ben Franklin analysis, we chose the Kohler brand. The 14RESAL from Kohler with the 200 AMP transfer switch has functioned very well over the last year during multiple short duration power outages – 1 hour to 12 hours. My wife and I both work from home so having any power outage during a work week can cause major issues.

This generator works just as it should at least in all the tests we have ran thus far. It is a good feeling knowing that when the next major hurricane comes though we will not have to worry about being without power again. If you are handy a DIY install is defiantly doable. We are also really happy with the folks at AP Electric they were very helpful on the phone and it was shipped very quickly. All in all a great experience.

I lost all the meat in my freezer two years ago after an ice storm broke the power lines. The power company was too slow getting things fixed. I decided to get a whole home generator after talking to a neighbor with one. He said he never had any problems with his Kohler so I went with the same brand. It turned on for the first time after we had some bad weather. This seems like a dependable standby generator because everything kept running at my house. I would buy it again.

We have had two generators over the last 12 years in our home and have times changed. We started with a portable generator and after a year bought a home standby. The standby lasted 10 years and it finally got cost prohibitive to repair. Based on the last 10 years of consumer knowledge, we chose a Kohler 20kW. We had a transfer switch already so we just needed the generator. The unit has functioned like a champ over the last 18 months. I could not recommend a better company than Kohler for generators.

We love our Kohler! We have had portable generators in the past and although they can be helpful in powering essentials like a refrigerator, there is now comparison to having your entire house powered at all times and not needed to have a bunch of gas cans on had to keep the portable going. Easy installation and it really looks great too.

I have a CPAP machine I use to sleep so I needed to be sure my electric stays on at night. The people at my hardware store said to get a home standby generator if I want the backup to come on automatically. The Kohler 14RESA I had installed is a natural gas powered generator that’s connected to the line going to my house. It runs by itself so I don’t have to do anything.

We have a smaller house outside the Quad Cities in Illinois. We are in a farming community and being rural has advantages and disadvantages. Losing power is one of the biggest disadvantages. We are now on our second generator after 15 years and we have an ASCO transfer switch so we chose a 14000 watt Kohler generator to replace rusted unit in our backyard. We have been pleased with the generator over the last year. A tornado knocked out power for 4 days last year and caused damage to our house. The Kohler generator functioned extremely well over the 4 day period of time.

We were looking for a reliable generator for our cabin in the Georgia mountains for the winter. This is a second home for us and so the power being out when we are not there has caused us many headaches in the past. We got the generator from AP Electric, it was delivered quickly and was fairly easy to install. We did have the final electric hookup done by an electrician. We have not had to use it yet but all testing has indicated we got the peace of mind we needed.

We don’t need to run everything in our house when the power goes out, so we were advised to get a 12,000-watt generator. After talking to some reps we had a Kohler 12RESVL-100LC12 installed behind our house. It’s a compact emergency generator that runs quietly. The installers let us pick what we wanted it to operate. Since it was put in, we’ve already needed it two times and it works as advertised. It’s the best home generator if you want to save some money but get high quality.

Our cabin in the Michigan upper peninsula might as well not be connected to the grid. The power to our cabin is horrible. We spend quite a bit of time in summer at the cabin so being without power for days is horrible. The Kohler 12RESVL-100LC12 is perfect and the install took only part of a day. It powers our lights and the needed appliances in the cabin. After 1 year of use, the generator gets an A for dependability.

Since we installed our Kohler generator we have lost power multiple times once almost 24 hours and each time the unit has worked as promised. We could not be happier that we made this investment. Highly recommend AP Electric as well, they were great when we spoke with them and they helped us find a local installer, all in all a great experience.
