Hurricane Ida went very close to me and we lost power, this generator kicked on and in the middle of a Hurricane, it was giving us power. I have 2 air conditioners and 3 water heater tanks, a hot tub, the oven, refrigerator, computers, TV I could go on, but it ran everything. And we have a 400 dollar power bill that time of year. All electric house. Never a faulter, I let it run for 3 days straight and then gave it a break. It says you can run it the duration of the outage, but I think after 3 days on my house, it's time for a break. So we shut her down for about 5 hours, then cranked her back up and withing 5 minutes, the power came back on lol. It's awesome, I use natural gas, but it does take propane as well. Definitely a great investment. 5 year wattanty too. Just my .02 cents

Kohler 20kw generator
We are installing the system this week. This is our 1st Kohler generator to install. We have installed over 25 Generac generators. Unit shell is stronger than Generac. Power wiring hookup is easy access as well as control wiring. Book states separate conduit for control wiring (I assume because control signals are serial comm link versus discrete lines for Generac). Plenty of room in the ATS to wire up power cable. The computer control board is open , I prefer it to be enclosed in a protective cover. Battery area is easily accessible, but is a small area. Shell panels come off and on easily. Only shipped one key. Should ship 2. Delivery in 2 weeks after order. If this works as it should, I will switch to Kohler , as Generac lead times are in months !!!

unmatched reliability
This is the second one installed now, great reliability in the most demanding environments. The most recent install was completed with NG installed on a 5' pedestal because it was located in a flood zone. The NG connection de-rates the capacity down to 18 Kw but is plenty sufficient for most homes. The generator output feeds a dual service configuration where there are two ABTs installed one for a 200 amp and the other for a 100 amp service. The service lateral is a common line so when commercial power is lost, both services will loose power and the generator picks up all the load. I did utilize load shed for one of the large A/C units and a timed load shed option for a conventional hot water heater and range. Please look for the install video on y tube under our name.

Great generator - live in South Carolina and it is now installed running our whole house. We have had 2 power outages and the 20RCAL worked will in both instances. One outage was 4 hours and the other was 2 days. Would recommend this generator. AP did a nice job sizing it, recommending an installer getting it to us in 3 days from time of order.
