Great Compact Generator
Just wanted to back-up the essentials. This Kohler 8RESV home standby generator was the ticket. Best price I could find on the web and it arrived quickly. Easy install for my electrician. great purchase.

Main power
I'm an electrician and decided that I'm tired of the big bad electric company ripping me off. I know that it will void the warranty if I use it as my main source of power and that's fien. Propane isn't too expensive so I'm going to install a large tank to run my generator whenever I want to do that. I'm thinking it will just be at night. I can tell you that Kohler generators last! I've had 2 already for other customers so this is my first for myself. The 8RESV generator will provide me all the power necessary to save me money down the road or become independent of the grid altogether. I can't comment on how it is as a back up home standby generator or an emergency situation generator. I can say that as for air-cooled generators in general it's second to none. Top tier all the way. I recommend the Kohler 8RESV to anyone that's trying to rely less on the grid as long as you know how to do it and don't care about voiding the warranty.

Home standby generator
My husband and I picked this generator out together. Our electrician is a big Kohler dealer here in Michigan and he told us to get the generator from you. The 8RESV came up as a highly reviewed/rated air-cooled generator even though it hasn't been out too long. So far it has been everything we expected of Kohler as an emergency generator. The weather here in the Midwest has been unpredictable so we might need it sooner than we planned.

Damage replacement
I bought this 8RESV generator when you guys had it on sale. It was exactly what I wanted so I was a bit distraught when it arrived damaged. This air cooled generator looked like a train wreck. There were forklift holes right through the middle of the enclosure. I thought for sure there was going to be a fight until I called AP. I was told to refuse it so I did. Next thing I know I'm getting a call to schedule delivery on the 2nd generator which was in perfect condition. It's a beauty. Kohler really put some work into this 8RESV to make sure it was perfect for use as a residential generator.

Love it
I purchased this 8RESV generator because I heard that it can back up my home even in an off-grid situation. I plan to use the Kohler RDT model transfer switch because it gives you more options and control. Still I'm very satisfied with the generator. Right now I'm using propane, however in the next year or two I'll be converting to natural gas. When that happens it's nice to know that I don't need a brand new air-cooled generator. Even with the natural gas I'll still be going off-grid, which I know is a little unorthodox. The Kohler 8RESV air-cooled generator is the perfect back up to my home.
