Powering the KG80R is the Kohler KG6208TSD 6.2L V8 engine, turbocharged and aftercooled for high-output, low-emission performance. Running at a steady 1800 RPM, the engine ensures smooth, efficient operation and extended service life. The generator is compatible with natural gas, liquid propane, or dual-fuel configurations, offering maximum fuel flexibility while remaining compliant with EPA standards for stationary emergency applications.
This model utilizes the Fast-Response® X excitation system, driven by a rare-earth permanent magnet alternator, which provides ±0.5% voltage regulation, rapid recovery under load, and <3.2% total harmonic distortion (THD). It’s capable of accepting 100% of its rated load in a single step, making it ideal for supporting large equipment, HVAC systems, and sensitive electronics alike.
At the core of its operation is the Kohler APM402 controller, offering comprehensive local and remote system monitoring with support for Modbus® protocols.
