Built around a powerful turbocharged V8 engine and advanced digital controls, the KG125R offers unmatched load-handling capability, fuel flexibility, and intelligent monitoring.
This model is driven by a 6.2L turbocharged and aftercooled V8 engine (KG6208THD), running at a reliable 1800 RPM for optimal fuel efficiency and long-term performance. It operates on natural gas or propane and supports dual-fuel configurations with automatic changeover capability, providing installation and operational flexibility across diverse power environments.
The generator’s power output is regulated by Kohler’s Fast-Response® X excitation system, using a rare-earth permanent magnet alternator to provide ±0.5% voltage regulation and less than 3.2% total harmonic distortion (THD)—suitable for powering sensitive equipment, high-inrush motors, and large HVAC systems. The system can accept 100% of the rated load in a single step and delivers up to 540 kVA of motor starting capacity at 480V.
Power management is handled by the APM402 digital controller, which includes a backlit digital display, Modbus® support, and full system diagnostics. It provides real-time updates on voltage, frequency, engine performance, and alerts, and it meets NFPA 110 Level 1 standards for critical operation when properly equipped.
Despite its high capacity, the KG125R operates at a sound level of just 71 dB(A) at 23 feet under full load. The unit is housed in a sound-attenuated steel or optional aluminum enclosure, designed to withstand up to 186 mph winds, resist corrosion, and deflect noise with vertically redirected airflow and internal critical-grade silencing.
Fuel consumption is rated at 1,678 cfh (natural gas) or 664 cfh (propane) at full load. Standard features include an electronic isochronous governor, flexible fuel lines, oil drain extension, battery charger, vibration isolation, and a local emergency stop switch.
The KG125R is UL 2200 listed, CSA approved, EPA-certified, and compatible with optional features like block heaters, remote annunciators, and line circuit breakers, making it one of the most complete and customizable generators in its class.
