"Just received my generator this morning. Estes Freight was the company who delivered. They called in advance and also called me and told me they were on their way. Excellent Service!! The driver was very professional. I also had a sales rep from AP Electric call me personally. Was very impressed with their service.Besides the price was the lowest I could find and it came with a free cover....very sweet.
Got it put under my carport an proceeded to remove the packaging. Was the easiest assembly I've ever done, (considering Swing Set and furniture). Was very careful to read the entire section on assembly and operation. I was do in 30 min flat....from beginning to end. One slight drawback is that the generator took just a tad more than the 1.05 quarts of oil as it proved that the low oil shut down worked like a charm.
After I started it, I put a small load on it to test all the receptacles.....flawless. Now it's time to finish my small slab, get my transfer switch an get ready for hurricane season."

I have had the unit only a week and have not had to use it for storm duty yet. Unit seems well built, comes with all accessories needed to get started including engine oil, battery, and tool kit. I added the oil and put in some gas and the engine started on the first pull (unit has electric start, but I wanted to see how hard it would be to start manually). I used it to do some projects this weekend and all went well.

This is a good deal on a generator in this size range. Although it had not been rated on Consumer Reports I took a chance and tried it. I was most impressed with the oversized muffler and price of the unit. The generator is significantly quieter than my Generac 5500 Watt Cont. and will handle more load. The power output is slightly more stable, but I would not encourage using computers,flat screen tv's, and cable boxes without the aid of a apc power conditioner. The only con I see with the generator is the lack of an oil filter on the drive motor. I love the electric start but it's not necessary, it starts easy with recoil if battery dies.

This generator is fairly quiet with a substantial spark arrestor/muffler on the engine.

Like others have posted, I did a lot of research on generators before deciding on this one. I had hoped to find a Honda 6500, but even used they were 3 times the price of the Westinghouse, so this is a great alternative. Unfortunately the RPM is governed at top level, so when you start it up, it runs wide open with no option to slow the motor down if you have little or no load on it. I suppose to produce the correct voltage that is a requirement of the design. I know the generator/inverters that I considered (Honda and Yamaha) have a more sophisticated throttle control to let the engine slow down to only produce the amount of electricity you need to power the load placed upon the generator. That idea and design would save a considerable amount of fuel, and in a power-out situation, gasoline might be hard, if not impossible to obtain. Always remember you can siphon gasoline out of your vehicle if you are sheltering in place. I liked the fact that everything needed (1 quart of engine oil, handles, wheels, and assembly parts) were included in the shipping box with a manifest that identified each part. Assembly could not have been easier. The included battery was fully charged. When I got it all put together and properly grounded, and fueled with 1 gallon of Sta-Bil treated fuel, it fired right up on the second revolution. In conclusion, with the 3 year warranty that most generators do not have, this generator is the best buy on the market currently available. If there ever is an EMP pulse that takes the U.S. grid down, this generator might not be your salvation, but it will keep you in heat, water, and lights much longer than the unprepared. Now you just have to be able to keep others from taking what you've got.

The unit assembles very easily and can be done by one person even though two would be a good idea due to the weight of the unit. Once you get the wheels and Handles on it is very easy to move. On to how it works and all I can say is Perfect! It starts with just a push of the starter button and only takes a few minuets to start running smooth. The unit is also very quiet and the estimates of about as loud as a lawn mower are pretty accurate.

Estes Freight unloaded the generator from their tractor trailer and put it in my garage! Could not ask for better service. Have opened the generator, put on wheels and handles, added oil, but have not put in gasoline and started it yet. Still working on electrical.

Easy assembly, started right up

AFTER I REPAIRED THE BROKEN FUEL LINE. The generator was delivered with the fuel supply broken at the shutoff valve. Other than that I have not had a power failure but based on testing I did it seems to be a quality product electrically. If you buy this generator be sure you do a thorough inspection before adding fuel.

Have not yet used the generator. It sure looks great,especially with the location of the battery (easy to access with trickle charger for not in use). Will let you know when i use it.
