my boat took on water at the dock and went down the poor 2400i was in the bottom of boat with motors completely under water, I changed oil three times just pulling on cord and oiled carb throttles checked plug turned on and cranked on sixth pull still had to play with the speed control until it loosened up then plugged in a fan then a battery charger then a full size fridge then a 1500 watt electric water boiler it took it all and even boiled the water. UNBELIEVABLE

This is a great generator. Have had it for 6 to 8 months. Though I haven't used it camping, I've hooked it up multiple times to our trailer and run the A/C. I had to add a Micro Air Easy Start to the A/C to prevent a bogging down at start up, but once started will maintain quite nicely.
Still a happy camper with this productProduct Review Rating: 5/5

Been about 7 months since my last review and Am still delighted with it .Does what Honda 2000 does not, for a little more than half the cost. Will post again at end of summer as to how it is holding up

Product appears to be well made. She started right up and passed a few load load tests. I agree with other reviewers who observed a higher pitch noise versus the comparable Honda model. However, I do believe the 2400i is just slightly quieter.

Just used our brand new Westinghouse generator for a week of dry camping. It used very little gas and kept our little camper powered up. We loved how it was quite were we could be outside and have conversations and was also really easy to start.

I wanted to take time to highlight the caring and compassionate custer service at AP Electric. I ordered the WH2400i and was delighted that it arrived in two days (Wis to Ind). Two days after receiving the WH2400i I was diagnosed with having metastatic cancer in my brain; steming from a longer battle with esohageal cancer. I called up AP Electric and worked with Jeremy. He was understanding in my sitaution having infored him I will be getting treatments for the next several weeks and my camping/hunting window for fall and winter were now off the table. He spoke with management and arranged for a full refund.
AP has top notch caring folks. Period.
I look to return as a customer when I've beat this next stumbling block in my health.

Westinghouse 2400 has been a delight. I have used it steady for a couple weeks, not wanting to discover on the road it's limitations..Haven't experienced anything from it's running too rich, as I had read on one comment page. Many of my associates quite impressed by it's low noise level, even while running A.C. and other appliances. If reminded to post a year from now, I will. I'll be one happy camper if I can say the same about this product , time will tell.
Does the job!Product Review Rating: 4/5

I purchased the WH2400i to use with my motorhome. I have found it easy to start, relatively quiet and it powers my rooftop A/C with no problem. I noticed the overload light was on while powering the A/C but discovered that the hot water heater was also on at the time . So I now know that it will power both the A/C and the hot water heater without blowing a fuse, just lighting the overload light. Overall this Genny is a good buy for the money. It is. Not much louder than the Honda 2000i at 1/2 load but at 2/3 the cost with 400 extra watts!

Ok so I am very pleased. I am running my air on my camper, 13,500 btu. I also need to run my 12 volt inverter. I tried the Honda 2000, it wont handle it, pops instantly, sold it. I tried the honda, 3000, it works fine, but a little loud, heavy and not so great on fuel. I kept it; its a nice unit but I don't want to carry in in the camper and the extra fuel. The 2400 from westinghouse runs both my air and inverter for camper, no formal sound test but I think its as quite as honda 2000. the westinghouse is the best of both worlds. It will not run my microwave and air, but that's ok, it does run my 12 volt inverter and my air. I have only had it about a month so far very pleased. easy on fuel and a fairly light weight. Very good price from AP. Plus the cover is really pretty nice.

No complaints...did a lot of research and this is the best value by far. Bought for my 1991 Toyota RV. The Westinghouse runs everything on my Toyota RV. Including the most important item, the roof top AC. I ran the AC full blast on the highest setting when it was around 100 degrees, for hours to test it. No problems! One catch...I need to start the AC with the temp knob on one certain spot, in the white area. Than once started, from there I can put it into the coolest setting with no problems...I am a happy camper now!

Arrived on time. Added oil and gas and it started right up. I tried it on my camper which has a 13,500 BTU air conditioner and it ran great. Impressed with how quiet it is. Love the free cover!
Will have to see about longevity.

I first bought one WH2400i mainly to run a heater and a few lights, computer, etc. (at night) for my house during power outages and not for an RV or camping (which I never do). During day hours I have a 7500 watt generator that I power into my Breaker Box, but it is rather loud to run at night, and I want to be a "good" neighbor.
But I decided I wanted more watts to power more items (TV, microwave, etc.) and thought about buying the Honda 3000i. Very Glad I did not! I bought a second WH2400i and the Parallel Power Cord. A little louder than the Honda but not by much; but for far less money, I get 4200 running watts instead of 2800 watts (1400 more watts and far less cost) ... That powers quite a bit. Plus Depending on circumstances, I have the option of only running one unit. AND each one weighs just 43 pounds (plus gas) as opposed to the 140 pounds(plus gas) of the Honda 3000i. Easy to carry and move, easy to store.
As for the WH2400i, Just follow the instructions, add the oil and gas and away they go. My first one started on the second pull, my second one started on the first pull. All-in-all they work as advertised by Westing House and AP Electric. I greatly like the four yellow markings that remind you of the start-up procedure: turn on, vent gas, choke, pull.
They appear to be well built, good with gas usage, and for the price provide plenty of power. As with all mechanical equipment, follow the maintenance schedule and you should get many hours/years of use

Nice, well built Genny. Starts on third pull with Eco switch on. I know you're supposed to have Eco switch off, but I prefer to start on idle. Approximately 8 hours on unit varying loads to break in engine. Handled 1400 Watt heat gun and 500 Watt halogen light, no problem. One thing I noticed is if you don't allow unit to warm up for 3 - 4 minutes and put load on unit, the low oil light will come on and unit will shut down. All's well when warm. Don't know if this is normal or not. Oil level is right on. Noise level is low, quite surprised at how quiet this Genny runs. Overall very happy with this purchase. AP Electric delivered fast and as promised. Great price and free cover also.

This Genset was delivered extremely fast. Package arrived as expected. Filled oil, put gas and started right up on second pull.
I then took it out over the weekend and I was impressed by its performance. The Gen didnt even blink when the power was needed for the a/c compressor. All in one a great purchase. Highly recommended!
Disappointed in WH2400i. This is not a Yamaha or Honda!Product Review Rating: 3/5
Posted by Engineeringnerd on May 08, 2016
I purchased a WH2400i for conversion to Natural Gass to supplement my existing Yamaha EF2000is. In brief, this generator provides remote power in a small package and is reasonably quiet fashion and may serve you well for occasional use. I put it in the same category as "Ohio Forge" or other Chinese tools, good for a few uses.
+ Very easy to start. Cranked on first pull out of the box.
+ Handles surge loads well when not in economy mode. Voltage only sagged from 123V to 119V when starting a 1/2HP benchtop grinder. Yamaha ef2000i sagged to 110V. Both units sagged to approximately 65V in economy mode (not recommended!).
+ I like that unit has access panels for spark plug, carb bowl drain, and air filter. Very convenient.
- Fuel economy about 60% of advertised on my copy. Specification says it will run 11 hours on 1.3 gallons at 50% load (1050 Watts). Mine only ran 7 hours with a 750W load.
- Runs very rich and the spark arrestor fully clogged with black soot by end of 2nd tank of gas. Spark plug was black with carbon.
- Valves are very noisy. Checked valve lash and it was much greater than specification. Still noisy after adjusting to specification.
- No gas gauge.
- Plastic and materials are very cheap. I've had this thing apart several times, adjusted the valves about 5 times, and installed a natural gas conversion kit. Quality is not very high, much less than Yamaha or Honda. Sound insulation is crudely glued cheap foam and is already coming loose. Rubber boot to carb is has sloppily glued parts versus quality fitted rubber. Inverter has exposed coils and electronics on interior of device, no shielding and little protection from moisture or wandering fingers when cover removed (be careful!). Be careful when reassembling, plastic broke and captive nut pulled free on cover when reassembling.
- Construction and design is poor compared to Yamaha. Treat plastic and fasteners with care. You may only get one try.
- On/off switch controls both ignition and gas flow. This is convenient but doesn't allow you to run out carb of fuel (but you can easily drain it) and doesn't allow for having gas in tank and running off of natural gas or LP. This wasn't their design intent, but not great for my intended purpose.

Received the WH2400i from AP Electric and Generators. Filled with oil and gasoline and started it up. Started great and ran for about an hour. Used it for vacuum and a couple of other things trying it out, worked fine . Went to shut it off and it refused to shut off spent next 10-15 minutes trying to figure out why it won't shut off finally had to disconnect spark plug to get it to shut down getting an nice shock in the process. Upon calling AP Electric & Generator I was told this is a warranty problem and to contact Westinghouse. I did and they sent me to their local service associates. I brought it in and they had the same problem including getting a shock trying to shut it off. So now waiting for estimated 2-3 weeks before they can get around to seeing if they can fix it. So I am NOT very happy with this purchase right now.

I like the generator, I have used it to run a skill saw, a small electric chain saw,and a leaf blower all at separate times, no problems.
My reason for the four stars is that the instructions are for multiple units and not specific for this model, makes it a little hard to follow and some of the items could go into more detail.

AP Electric got this generator to me promptly. Setup was quick and easy, and it ran a (rated) 1200W vacuum in eco mode without blinking during initial start-up and check-out. Met, if not exceeded, noise expectations. Not at all a "lawn mower."

After a small issue with the paperwork not printing when I first ordered it( a phone call 2 days later resolved it), I had it in two days! Very surprised. read the book, a little, and followed the setup instructions. One slow pull to get a feel for it, and it cranked the first real pull. Quiet.
Have not gotten to put it to real use, but a trip to the lease is coming quick! I will try it out under real loads and will update after.

I bought it for charging batteries and running few things in the RV while boondocking but was pleasantly surprised that it runs my 13.5 BTU generator (Coleman Mach). You won't find a better price. Westinghouse service is stellar. I was able to get a high altitude jet for camping above 5000'. AP Electric shipped it right away and all easily available online or by phone.

I purchased this generator to use with a mobile ice cream business I have. I was using a rigid with 5700 continuous watts but that was excessive wattage, weight and noise. Will not be using this for business for a few months but tried it out today and ran great and quiet. Had frozen water line and ran a trouble light and blow dryer for one hour straight and the generator ran great. The wattage was around 1600 and I could have a conversation on speaker phone 5 feet from generator. That has been the only use thus far but worked as advertised, I plan to buy two more for an ice cream truck I have. Liked that it could do 500 more continuous watts than the honda

My son is a licensed electrician and he wired this generator with a gen.cable to my breaker box and it works great powering about half my breakers. Looking forward to the next outage and I can also take this unit on camping and fishing trips for it is pretty quiet and might not disturb my fellow campers. Thanks AP Electric look forward to doing business with you guys in the future!
