My GP8000E would not start at all. If I poured a little gas or sprayed cleaner in the carburetor, it would fire a few times but die. I may have been able to get away with a thorough cleaning and repair kit, but I chose the whole new carburetor. It fit like a charm and started right up. No problems since. Make sure you use some form of fuel stabilizer to keep this from happening to you. If you're having a similar start-up problem, this is the replacement carburetor for you (GP8000 or GP8000E).
