For more than 60 years, Generac has been developing eco-friendly, sustainable power solutions for homes and businesses. AP Electric & Generators is proud to sell their products to meet your needs, and we’ve been doing so for 20 years.
A Brief History of Generac
Originally, Generac began selling portable generators exclusively for Sears, branded under Craftsman. In the 1970s, the company moved into the RV market, expanding outward from the Craftsman name. Catepillar teamed up with Generac in the 1980s to create private label generators, but it wasn’t until 1989 that the company began its own venture.
It started with a gas-powered home standby generator, and the rest was history. Following its success selling commercial and home standby units, they sold their portable generator products to the Beacon Group. They eventually fell into the hands of Briggs & Stratton and retired from the market until 2008, which is when they released the XG, LP and GP series.
