Kohler 14kW 50Hz/60 Hz home generator runs on a reliable Kohler type CH740 4-Cycle, 20.5 HP, V-2 engine with maximum 3600 RPM. The heavy-duty, commercial-grade engine stands up to extreme weather. This dual fuel generator offers advanced voltage and frequency regulation. - The cylinder head is made of aluminum while the fuel solenoid valves are made of steel. The pistons are made of aluminum alloy.

Great product
Using this generator for an off grid new home. working great so far. Only problem was calling customer service about delivery date and spending a lot of time on hold. Called several times and spent probably an average of 30 minutes on hold.

Stator shorted out at 103 hours
Unit was installed in 2012 and only ran for its weekly cycling.
Failed at 103 hours of run time, just after warranty expired.
Unit is junk and Service Center said they need to be paid to remove it. -
The way to go
We're off-grid. The portable generators are for survival. The 14kw resa is the way to go for dependable living. Very quiet and well made...We love it and can monitor and control it when we are away! AP's price cannot be beat and it was here i just days not weeks!!!!!

Generator is working great
I received the generator in good time and droppec right off in my driveway. It took a little time to get it installed into my totally off grid system but it started right up when I got it done. With our 20 solar panels we still need to run the generator for a few hours every 4 to 5 days to keep the batteries charged in these low light winter days. I've run the generator for 5 cycles now and it works great and is very quiet. I can't speak to longevity yet but i am very satisfied.

Prefer Koehler to Generac
We live off grid completely, with two trackers and 14 solar panels that take use completely through seven months and our LP Koehler 14kw to supplement solar or completely for the remaining months. The two wire start made installation quick and easy. We replaced our LP Generac 15kw with the Koehler. Though it is less kw produced, it uses a less LP and is more than enough power for our 2200sq.ft. house. AP was the cheapest, with free delivery and a battery. They will always be my first place to look for any kind of product that they sell.

Absolutely reliable unit
Bought an identical generator for my off-the-grid electrical system 8 years ago. It had over 10,000 hard hours on it, the motor was weak but the generator head was still good. It could have been rebuilt but we decided to replace it with a new one. Absolutely satisfied with the unit, AP was the cheapest around with free shipping, delivered the unit in record time. Very satisfied.

Nice Generator
I recently purchased this generator for my new off-grid solar system. The system is not completely installed yet so I cannot comment on the long term reliability of the Kohler but I have installed the generator and it started right up and seems to be running great. AP Electric shipped it quickly and the generator was packaged nicely. The battery, however, was just wrapped to the top of the generator box. Probably could have been packed a bit better.
I think the generator is going to serve me well. -
