A Brief History of Generac
Originally, Generac began in 1959 selling portable generators exclusively for Sears, branded under Craftsman. In the 1970s, the company moved into the RV market, expanding outward from the Craftsman name. Caterpillar teamed up with Generac in the 1980s to create private label generators, but it wasn’t until 1989 that the company began its own venture.
It started with a gas-powered home standby generator. In fact, Generac was the first to construct and sell residential standby generators that were also affordable, as well as the first to design an engine specifically for generators. This made generators available to a much wider market, for both home and industrial needs. Following its success selling commercial and home standby units, Generac sold their portable generator products to the Beacon Group. They eventually fell into the hands of Briggs & Stratton and retired from the market until 2008, which is when they released the XG, LP, and GP series.
Today’s Generac Generators
Today, Generac has an extensive line of backup power systems, ranging from small portable inverters to large industrial units. The company states proudly that it manufactures “the widest range of power products in the marketplace.” Generac is also a reliable manufacturer of transfer switches and other generator accessories. It has established itself as a leader in the power/pressure washer market, as well. The company supplies strong power washers for both home and industrial use.
Generac also makes efforts to promote and maintain environmentally sound production efforts, as well as more sustainable technology. The company offers products that allow customers to use energy while still reducing their ecological footprint, rather than choosing between the two. Generac accomplishes this by providing products that produce fewer emissions.

Generac Generator 7043

When we purchased our home 10 years ago and it came with a 30+ year old Generac whole home generator that worked great every time the power went out. Finally, it ended up needing some repairs and we decided just to replace it with a newer model rather than trying to find parts and pay for the labor on the repairs. We called in because we were not sure exactly what size replacement we needed, and Joe asked some questions about our home and recommended the 7043 model by Generac. The new generator has been excellent is a lot quieter than the one we replaced. We can’t even hear it running from inside the house.

Great generator, we talked to a few companies locally for purchase and install of a Generac Model 7043. We compared pricing from 2 local dealers/installers and we compared pricing from 2 two internet companies. AP Electric had the best price and availability for the generator. By separating the pricing on the generator and the install we saved over $1600. One of the local installers had a great install price but the cost of the generator was $1000 more that the price AP Electric provided.

I live in the Houston area and have now gone through Hurricane Ike and now Harvey. During Ike we were without power for 8 days and with Harvey for two. I decided no more, I now have the Generac 7043 installed and although I have not had to use it yet all tests of the system indicate I will be in good shape next time one of these types of events happen. It’s nice to have that piece of mind knowing I will never be without power again.

We lost power for over a week when some storms came through a few years ago and didn’t want to go through that hell all over again so we purchased a Generac brand whole home generator. We had it installed a few months ago and just lost power last night for the first time while it was 95 degrees. This thing was a life saver! It switched on in seconds and kept our AC running all night long and we didn’t have to throw out all the food in the fridge. Sleeping well knowing that we have backup power when we need it.

We needed a 16kW generator per our electrician and we talked to a neighbor and 3 companies that sell generators. All suggested going with Generac to buy a Model 7037 which included a 200 amp transfer switch in the package. We wanted the whole project turnkey. We needed the generator, the transfer switch, a cement pad to put the generator on, a battery, and a cold weather kit since we live in Maine – no sense in having a generator that does not start when the power is out. We bought from AP Electric because they had all the items in stock, had very knowledgeable technical people, and provided a great price with free shipping.

So far my whole house generators has worked great. I have had a number of power outages since it was installed and the automatic transfer switch flips the power to the generator within seconds of the main power going out. I was worried that it would have a hard time in the cold as it gets as cold as minus 20 here but I have had no problems at all. Great purchase!

I called AP Electric to get help finding the right size generator and they made the process super-fast and easy. The new generator arrived 3 days after we ordered it and got it installed yesterday. It was nice to be able to call in and get help from someone who was knowledgeable.

We have a house in the country and got sick of losing power after 3 years of living in the house. We needed our entire house powered because when the power goes out it stays out for a day or two. We had a portable Generac but plugging in extension cords is a pain and when the power is out we can only power a few things in the house. We had an independent electrician do something called an amp draw to determine the amount of power needed and we were told we needed at least a 20kW generator. We settled on a Generac Model 7042. Our electrician told us to go to AP Electric to buy the generator. He said that he has been recommending them for years they have great prices and have a huge inventory. We are happy now and ready for winter.

I looked at a lot of different whole house generators before buying our Generac. It was shipped for free which was great and was very easy to install with the instructions in the owner’s manual. Once I had it installed I fired it up and turned just about everything I could turn on in my house and it worked perfectly.

We had blazing fast delivery of our 7039 generator from AP Electric. We purchased it for our lake house that has annoying frequent outages when it gets hot out. What we like the most is the Generac mobile link remote monitor that we bought with it that will let us know if it kicks on when we aren’t around and will let us know when it needs maintenance.

We moved into our house 1 year ago and the old owner left the generator for us. It is a Generac Model 7039 which is a 20kW generator. Our house is in Louisiana and it has been a tough year. We have lost power 3 times for 2 to 3 days each time. The generator turned on each time and kept running until the power came back on. The old owner said they bought it from AP Electric. We just bought a maintenance kit for the generator and bought it from AP Electric. They seem to be pretty knowledgeable and friendly.

I had no idea what I really needed to fulfill then needs of my home. The people at AP Electric where very patient with me as I ask a lot of questions and really educated me on the differences between different generators. We finally settled on a 20,000 watt Generac generator and they got it shipped to me for free. They also recommended a local installer that did a great job for me. I have not had to use it yet but it worked fine in all the tests and it sure is nice to know it is there when I do need it.

We don’t have a very big house (2000 square feet) so the 11kw Generac generator was a good fit and cost less than some of the other larger units. After we had it installed we tested it out and it can power our 2.5 ton AC unit and keep the refrigerator and lights on with no trouble at all. Overall we are happy with the purchase experience and the peace of mind that comes with having a whole home generator.

Generac always runs these commercials about portable generators but we talked to our neighbor that owns one. A portable is OK if you only lose power occasionally but when we lose power it has been for 2 to 3 days. My wife and I work from home. We do not have a big house but being able to use our computers, have heat, have our sump pump work, have lights, and be able to cook is important. We bought a Generac 11kW that had a transfer switch and we bought a generator pad to put it on from AP Electric. The guys did a nice job verify the sizing and getting us the generator - cement pad in 4 days for a great price.

I live in Ashcroft Denver and the winters here can be quite severe, it is not uncommon to lose power for extended periods of time during large snow events. This generator has been absolutely great, it comes on within a few seconds of the power going out and has more than enough power to run my entire home.
