NOAA’s updated seasonal outlook keeps the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season in above-normal territory, and the calendar agrees: the climatological peak of the season, centered on September 10, is now upon us. Hurricane Erin’s recent close pass of the East Coast was the opening act of the busiest stretch of the year.

The Next Six Weeks Matter Most

The overwhelming majority of major hurricane landfalls in U.S. history have occurred between late August and mid-October. That makes right now the last, best window to finish preparations, from trimming trees and checking insurance documents to making sure your home can generate its own power through a multi-day outage.
