Read the reviews and they were all positive on this generator. My review is no different. Great Generator and great customer service from AP Electric. Recommend.

"My generator arrived in factory condition and the nice deliveryman helped me load it onto my heavy-duty handcart for the the trip down my 100 yard long gravel driveway. His tractor-trailer would never be able to make that turn, besides, it's strictly "curbside""delivery.
Despite other reviews I've read, this generator was easy to setup. Wheel installation, battery (starter motor) connection, and oil fill-up were all very straightforward. I need a gas can with a better spout, though. My 5 gallon metal Eagle can is awkward to hold over the tank, even with it's funnel. The fuel On/Off valve is not securely attached and it will recess into the panel in the OFF position (it's easy to push back, though). The manual implied that you have an included funnel for the oil. It did not, but I have many appropriate funnels for the job.
The manual did not advise you to check the oil after initial fill-up and start-up. The oil capacity of the generator and the oil filter exceeds 1.0 quarts (1.2 I think is the correct number). So, the supplied oil isn't quite enough for two oil changes. You have to add a little more after initial start-up or oil filter change.
The power of this generator is more than ample to handle the start-up currents of my heavy hitting appliances. I couldn't even hear a small hiccup in the engine when engaging these appliances. Running through the 30 amp (~7200 watts) outlet will never max-out the available power of this generator. This was always my intention in making this purchase, to ensure efficient and reliable operation of my backup generator.
I am (so far) pleased the performance of this generator. While I wouldn't call it "quiet", it's no louder than my 5HP lawnmower. This is acceptable for an emergency power backup.
I like that Generac includes extra oil, oil filter, air filter, and spark plug (and spark plug wrench) for your first servicing.
Starting the generator took a couple minutes longer than I expected. On a warm day, I didn't really need the choke to crank it up. Learning curve stuff.
I guess I'll take a pot-shot at the generic battery charger that came with the generator. It's very basic. I like to use a smart trickle charger to top-off batteries, especially lead acid batteries. I'll make a current measurement of this charger, and probably replace it with something better suited to the task. I'm hoping that my 1.5 Amp smart charger will be good enough.
The staff at AP Electric were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their diligence concerning my purchase (identification verification) and their inquiries with the shipper. The tracking from the shipper (Dayton Freight) was always up to date and accurate. "

The generator will be used for backup home power. It is installed with the Generac 12 circuit transfer switch kit. I had it installed by a licensed electrician for a nominal cost. The only additional equipment needed was 30 feet of 4 conductor wire from the control panel to exterior power input outlet. Spencer, Indiana"

The battery location is problematic, its located under the gas tank making it difficult to remove and check, the trickle charger supplied is not supposed to be used longer than 24 hours once a month. The charger has no LED indicator showing whether its charging or not, and only when you test start the generator monthly will you know whether it survived the -28 degree temps. Please note that there is no easy way to electrically jump start this machine. My suggestion is to remove the battery and install a cigarette style plug-in (to the electric starter). Next use a portable car jumper like the kind used in used car lots to start the generator. This jumper unit is typically kept in the house on a constant charge.using this method you will have full power to start the generator, ."

Generator arrived with no problems. Initial shipping instructions said that the battery would be on top of the shipment. We called and discovered that the battery was already installed. After doing the start-up prep I started the unit and all seemed to be well. I found it to be a bit noisy, but o.k.. Thank you AP Electric & Generator Supply."

Was missing the codder pins for the wheels but I was able to make it happen. After oil, fuel and starter hook up, it cranked right up once the fuel hit the carburetor. Satisfied."

I ordered my XP8000 well into this year's hurricane season, after investigating Honda, Briggs & Stratton, and other popular gen sets. I chose this Generac model for a number of reasons, including the fact that the engine is designed specifically for use in generators and is manufactured in the USA, and because each output has GFCI. AP Electric was able to ship it to me the quickest of all the online retailers I checked with - at a competitive price. The XP was packaged very well and setup was quick. "
