Had to cut opening in back side of generator to get to starter starter bolted in just as old one was then replaced metal with a removable pice of aluminum diamont plate ready for next time 17 years from now -

Stay away from aftermarket lost time and money should.should have this and the first place factory fit works great would do it again from this

Works better than stock
Generac in their infinite wisdom designed the Guardian generators to NOT be worked on! Starter is on back side of motor, no easy access without removing entire enclosure, which consists of 20-30 screws and bolts. The old starter is too large to remove if enclosure is left on. New starter is a smaller and can be installed without removing enclosure. It is a higher rpm, so the generator starts almost instantly, instead of chugging and grinding with the old one.
